Festival Fever

Essence Music Festival
July 3-6, 2008
White Oak was hired by Rehage Entertainment as Transportation Director for this year's Essence Festival at the Louisiana Superdome and New Orleans Convention Center. We coordinated all ground transportation for the concerts at the Superdome and the empowerment session speakers at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center.

FireworksGo 4th on the River
July 4, 2008
Independence Day is incomplete without this annual party on the banks of the Mississippi River! White Oak booked and produced Go 4th on the river at Spanish Plaza again this year. Performers included MoJeaux, Kayla Woodson and Louisiana Lightning, The Topcats, and Rockin' Dopsie, Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters. The night ended with a spectacular fireworks display!

ArenaBowl XXII Fan Fest
July 27, 2008
Event Producers hired White Oak for the second year in a row to provide entertainment for fans attending the Arena Bowl Tailgate. Fans partied to the sounds of Phat Hat, Living Legends Brass Band, and Fleur de Lis.

Satchmo SummerFest
Aug 1-3, 2008
Ed White returned as the entertainment director for The Satchmo Summer Fest 2008. Four stages of music provided festival-goers a great time to eat local cuisine, and hear great tunes that paid tribute to the influence Louis Armstrong had on music. The sunny weekend ended with a "Props for Pops" trumpet tribute!

Second Annual Congo Square Gospel Music Fest
September 21, 2008
White Oak Productions helped this celebration with site layout, stage management, and production coordination. The beautiful weather provided for a great festival featuring 15 Gospel Choirs at the St. Mary Academy Campus. Thanks to Dr. Gillie, Sandra and Drex.

The Tenth Ritual/ Voodoo Music Experience
October 24-26, 2008
Voodoo The Tenth RitualRehage entertainment hired White Oak for this tenth annual festival to coordinate Ground Transportation for all out of town artists. This years lineup included: Wyclef Jean, Nine Inch Nails, Thievery Corporation, The Vettes, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Marc Broussard and many more!

Roll Wave

Tulane University DJsWhite Oak Productions teamed up with Tulane Athletics to provide tailgating entertainment for home games. The home opener on September 13th fans danced to the sounds of Rockin' Dopsie, Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters. Impulse Entertainment DJ had the crowd dancing the Cupid Shuffle on September 20th and November 15th. Homecoming on October 4th was a beautiful day for Green Wave fans to enjoy Big Sam's Funky Nation on a big stage at City Park's Roosevelt Mall!

Louisiana Swamp Fest
November 1-2, 2008
Festival attendees enjoyed Louisiana Culture- music, food, crafts, and fun- while visiting the Audubon Zoo at the beginning of November. This two-day festival, booked by White Oak included Grammy Nominee Roddie Romero & The Hub City All-Stars, Grammy Winners Beau Soleil Avec Michael Doucet and Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience, and Gal Holiday & The Honky Tonk Revue, Guyland Leday & Zydeco Family and Friends and many, many more! Harvest the Music

What better way to kick off the weekend this fall than with a free concert series in the CBD! White Oak Productions was hired by Second Harvest Food Bank to produce the successful Harvest The Music Series. The event was held every Thursday in October at Lafayette Square. We were on-site handling all production and coordinating load-in, performance, and load-out. Performers included Edwin McCain, Rebirth Brass Band, Benjy Davis Project, Bonerama, The Radiators, and Bag of Donuts.

New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, IncCongo Square Rhythms Festival
October 4-5, 2008
The Second Annual Congo Square Rhythms Festival moved to Bayou St. John this year, which made more room for two stages of food & fun! This free festival which celebrates Congo Square as the birthplace of American Music included Drum Circles, Second-lines, Hip Hop acts, R&B performers, and DJs amongst the soul food and craft vendors. White Oak was on-site to provide site coordination. Festival produced by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation. Thanks to Scott Aiges.

Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival
October 18-19, 2008
For the third year, White Oak Productions joined the Jazz & Heritage Foundation in combining two great things: Blues and BBQ! Festival-goers enjoyed the sounds of New Orleanians Marva Wright, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Marc Stone, and Little Freddie King; and got a taste of visiting musicians such as Cedric Burnside & Lightnin' Malcom, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Kenny Neal and John Mooney. White Oak was on site providing site coordination and stage-managing for this great weekend

American Public Power Association & American Correctional Association
June 24, 2008 and August 12, 2008
White Oak Productions helped these two organizations with entertainment for their national conferences in New Orleans. We booked a high-profile show featuring Irma Thomas & The Professionals, Al "Lil Fats" Jackson, and all necessary Backline and Production for the parties at the Hilton Riverside. Thanks to Tom Jones and all of Jones and Brown Productions.

Keating Magee Groundbreaking Events
June 25, 2008 and September 18, 2008
White Oak produced two ground-breaking ceremonies this quarter. One for Slidell Fremeaux interchange and the other for a state of the art assisted living facility in Monroe, LA. Thanks to Keating Magee for the opportunity to work along side with their clients to produce these events.

July 10-12, 2008
Over the summer we welcomed Jazzercise fans from around the world with three days of Louisiana entertainment! This included Amanda Shaw & The Cute Guys, Billy Iuso & The Restless Natives, Jimmy Thibodeaux, Charmaine Neville, NORD Gospel Choir, E.L.S., Hot Club of New Orleans, John Autin, Red Hot Brass Band, Shamarr Allen, One A-Chord and Les Danseurs Acadian. The three days of music, dance, and culture showed exercise aficionados a fantastic time! Thanks to Jaguar Productions.

40 Days and 40 Nights
August 9, 2008
White Oak Productions teamed up with the French Quarter Business Association and Nash Marketing to produce the six-week French Quarter Brass Band Series in late August thru Mid-September. White Oak Productions booked the Soul Rebels Brass Band, Storyville Stompers, Pin Stripe Brass Band, Treme Brass Band, Bone Tone Brass Band, and Algiers Brass Band to participate in the 25 block parade. Jay-Ray & Gee and Bamboula 2000 were also booked for added entertainment.

Trendsetters Brass BandFantastic Sams Conference
September 23, 2008
White Oak Productions was hired by UME Productions to produce a mini- Mardi Gras Parade for Fantastic Sams Convention in New Orleans. The parade was led by Trendsetters Brass Band and included two mini-floats, Mardi Gras Royalty, Elaborate Revelers, a Juggler and a Stilt Walker. We brought the spirit of Mardi Gras to the Hilton Riverside, and had visitors revelling the night away!
